Team: Formal
I worked with Kerry again. First I tried to take out a Robinia pseudoacacia that had appeared to have self-sown itself and had gotten very big in the conifer lawn area in front of Weatherhill Cottage. The young treeling had very big & nasty thorns. I cut it back first to the base, then tried to dig it out. But it was actually part of a much older stump. Even with a mattock and spade, as it had a thick old root system and ivy latticed all over it, it didn't budge much. We decided that the tree team had even better tools, would know how best to take it out and be quicker, so we are going to ask them to do it.

I carried on deadheading roses & weeding, Kerry leaf blew around & observed which were the areas most needing maintenance and we honed in on those in particular, to help the place look good overall for the weekend. Some of the roses we deadheaded were Rosa Rhapsody in Blue 'Frantasia' which was more purple and looked quite artificial, as it's not a natural colour for roses and bred for a desire & ideal for roses to be that colour, Rosa Crocus Rose 'Auquest' which had rust on it and Rosa Scarborough Fair 'Ausoran' a delicate pink one.
I was particularly impressed with this tool that Kerry used for deadheading:
