I worked with the Indoor 'Blue' Team today. They take care of all the seeds, bulbs, sundries (from pots, gloves, compost to furniture and bird cages) & even things like beer. The seed suppliers they mainly work with are Kings, Fothergills, Suttons and Thompson and Morgan. Wildflowers are common at the moment, so Fothergills are doing a RSPB special and there is a special Sarah Raven selection. There are also the odd Homegrown (James Wong) and Franchi (Italian seeds) sections. Linking in happens here too, e.g. propagation material are placed near seeds. Beans has its own section and also unusual salads. Things like wires and gloves that people may think of last minute are placed close to the tills.
Things that don't work are special Hannah McVicar's (Jekka's daughter from Jekka herbs) designer box set collections - a selection of seeds to create a cottage garden look.
Wilkinson sword tools has now been swallowed up by Fiskars. Naylor's pots are a drainage company, so make pots that look like big drain parts.
They have a big yellow storage for a rotation of unused stock.
I helped break down boxes, unpack new stock - lanterns, scanned barcodes to see what price they are and priced them up.
They are in the process of clearing out the Christmas stock and setting up new displays that represents different rooms in a house and the houseplants that would go well in each area. I helped look up what plants they had that would be suitable for a cool conservatory and a hot conservatory, and gathered a selection to the area.
