Department: Plant Centre

I started the morning just moving plants around.
Then I helped on the Advisory Desk queries ranged from:

- Identifying fungi on a viburnum and laurel hedge from photos - it didn't seem like honey fungus as they feared Armillaria, as the shrubs still looked healthy, so may be something a saprophytic fungi - https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=736.

- Lawn care - whether it was worth the money to get a good layer of top soil for laying turf.

- How to prune a shrub type Abutilon sp. that had flowers like Abutilon megapotamicum but not a trailing plant.

- Where one can still obtain tar wash.

- Information on Scabious nitens.

- Identification of sooty mould on ilex and how to treat it - interesting observation note - insects are on the under side of the leaf and the 'honey' they secrete drops onto tops of leaves below, hence why leaves are sooty on the top.
