2nd February 2015

Weather: Cold, beautiful light and frost.
Department: Plant Centre

Spent the day moving plants along the beds in the Herbaceous Perennial section to make room for new stock, taking out any excess ones to be put in reserves. Plants of the moment are Heucheras and Hellebores. Some of the Heucheras looked a bit ropey with brown blotches and shrivelled dead leaves e.g. Heuchera 'Can Can'. One of the staff members thought that it could be the effect of the frost and that certain colours/ cultivars may be more sensitive to sunlight (e.g. dark purple ones) and were affected by that afterwards. They are very prone to vine weevil.
