Worked with James. Blustery again and some gardens in the country had been closed, so we did our severe weather checks. Closed the Pinetum and put out signs. Then we planted the Galanthus 'Magnet' that had been dug up from the Wild Garden near the entrance of the Pinetum. We planted them in as deep as the white of the stems went up to, which was about 70cm deep. The idea was to create blocks of impact and for them appear as they were drifting out more randomly. I planted some around the interpretation sign for the area.

Then we took some Taxus baccatta, Thuja plicata and Crataegus monogyna that had been heeled in in a compost heap at the back of the Pinetum, and filled in gaps in the hedges that lined the public pathway through there, to hide the fence more. I wondered if the planting was done too closely, it felt in haste for the sake of instant impact. There's limited space in the garden proper, so plants are often crammed and cramped, and too often neglected, especially because people move on etc and ideas/ development etc gets lost.
