Allotment
Prepared the roots bed to a fine tilth - this took a good hour to do, as there was lots of plastic and big pieces of wood in the compost that I had roughly dug in earlier.
Then sowed parsnip and carrots. Parsnip 4 - 5 clusters every 20cm, x2 rows. Initially drill was not deep enough, but rectified in the 2nd row. Sowed one row of carrots as I would like to succession sow and sow another row at a later date. Changed plan and sowed these side by side instead of with leeks in between them, as I wanted to start them both in a cloche, to maximise the chances of germination, espec. parsnip, as it is notorious for erratic and slow germination.
Spacing - 20cm between rows of the same and 30cm between different vegetables.
I watered everything well - leeks seedbed, potatoes, strawberries and newly sown carrots and parsnips. Then I created a cloche with wire frames and fleece for the latter.
