Department: Fruit
Worked with Sigrid on the Herb Garden, was introduced to many unusual and interesting herbs. At this time of year this area is very green but it is a very sensual garden nonetheless with many things to smell and sample.
Examples of plants shown:
 |
Photo 1: Stevia - an plant that is sweet! Used as an sweetener alternative to Aspartame and sugar. |
Good King Henry - young flowering stems are eaten like asparagus.
 |
Photo 2: Interesting Chenopodium - but bland, watery tasting red fruits. |
I particularly liked her trained Lemon Verbena in pots - which are taken indoors over winter.
 |
Photo 3: Standard Lemon Verbena - Aloysia citrodora. |
Cape gooseberries self-sow freely in the Herb and Model Fruit Garden.

Sigrid cut her Buxus sempervirens hedges, I cleared up the clipping with these handy grabbers (photo 5 below).
