Worked with Emily tidying up the dead and yellow leaves of the National Rhubarb Collection. Cawood Early is one that go into early dormancy.
They are split and replanted Sept - Oct, they are lifted and replanted or lifted and potted and done this time of year to not break its dormancy.
They are fed in spring when they are around a foot big and with 30cm spread on the ground. They are fed a second time when they go dormant in summer. The last harvesting of the plant is in June.
There is a breeding centre in Stockbridge.
The almonds are ripening at the moment too, Ingrid is the cultivar that they have as it is one that ripens in the UK. Amaretti biscuits is actually made from peach kernel.
