More raspberry tying and fruit picking. We picked pears Louise Bonne of Jersey, the key with picking these was not to pull downwards nor twisting, they will give when you gently tug them upwards or sideways, this is because they grow use to defying gravity, so will not come off so easily this way. It is important to stay on top of the picking to reduce wastage through fruit fall. So we picked all of them, ripe and unripe to catch up, but chucked any that were too small, full of scab, misshapen / rotten etc, leaving around 3 at the top of the tree for identification purposes. We used special metal buckets with special harness straps, lined with a vinyl canvas that has a long open bottom that you wrap around and hook to the bucket when picking.
