Cutting back and pruning a large rambling rose on the fencing dividing the rock garden from alpine service houses and yard. It had destabilised the fence to lean one way with it's weight and it had crowded a path out on the alpine yard side. Three clematis were intertwined in it  - a C. armandii, an evergreen paddle leaf one and a C. cirrhosa type. It has not been done for ages, there was a lot of dead.
