Stock take using a handheld laser based device that has barcodes of all plants logged in. It is set on stock take mode then all physical plants are methodically scanned - multiple numbers of the same barcode can be scanned once and number of plants manually typed in, instead of scanning several of the same. Sometimes the laser did not work so barcodes then would have to be manually typed in.

There are many of these devices, so that a few people can do them at the same time. One is specially named the 'Dead Gun' and dedicated to deading things off i.e. stock that has been damaged/ died and is deemed as unsaleable anymore. There is not a sale bin for these - these are just thrown straight out.
