Me and Carly weeded an area near the Eucalyptus trees at the top, where some had fallen during the winter storms of 2014 and is now a bare space.

As it is a big area we broke the work a by turning to thin out a dense thicket of Abutilon x suntense 'Ralph Gould' and 'Geoffrey Gorer' (Photo 1).

It was hard to make it look good, as it was ungainly and weedy looking, but we tried to give it some definition as well as keeping a sense of its wild nature. A lot was taken out than appeared, but it was good to reduce its size and give space to other plants that it was encroaching on (e.g. an Acca sellowiana 'Apollo'), as these areas tend to be planted quite cramped up anyway.

We also fixed the temporary covering of succulents and agaves etc. on the Mediterranean Terrace (Photo 2), adding more fleece and using more string to tie it down better where possible, and removing the rotted part of an Agave Americana.

A lower limb of a Eucalyptus inexplicably fell down whilst we were working on the Abutilon, and the Arb team had to cordon off a path and take it off properly, they were puzzled why it had happened.
