Team: Formal
Worked briefly with Enrico in the morning on the Mixed Borders. Cut down Phlomis stalks and hoed weedy areas, methodically working through the borders.
Hybrid berries training and tying.
This took place in the trials field where there was a range of tayberries, logan berries (black berry & raspberry crosses), including new stand alone bush ones, thorned & thornless ones on trial. We worked on the ones trained on wires.

- Cut out all flowered/ fruited branches
- Leave four strong flowering stem on each side preferably from the base
- Train & tie in each stem from the bottom wire rung up (five rungs in total approx. 1ft apart). Leave the top rung free for new growth. Curve each stem around as much as possible to maximise fruiting.
- Shorten stem if really necessary. At least up to just touching end of stems of adjacent bush.
