Department: Plant Centre

- Today was the end of the 50% sale of herbaceous, plants, shrubs and various other things, so took down all the signage. They don't do a bargain bin, so plants are returned to their A - Z areas or thrown away.

- Cleaned up Hellebores and spaced them out more. Some of them seem to be experiencing Botrytis cinerea. One particular cultivar Helleborus niger 'Joshua' from Hilliers, a Hellebore Gold Collection breed seemed to have it the worse. Pots seemed very congested, growth of flowers & leaves stunted and discoloured as well as rotting off and moulding at the base. Around 17 had to taken off for sale and thrown out. Wastage like this is here normal. They bought in many of these as they were cheap. I was told that it was just that they had been in their pots too long, many have already been sold and they were starting to finish flowering, they had been one of the earlier flowerers.
