Department: Plant Centre

Today I worked with the Indoor Blue Team again, I helped move some display shelves, then did a few houseplant displays with old and new stock, following the themes that I have mentioned previously of plants that would be good for different parts of the house - this is quite subjective though as it obviously depends on what type of house people have.

Plants for the hallway includes Aspidistra elatior - the invincible 'Cast Iron' that put up with the industrial smog of Victorian times, Schleffera arboricola - a variegated one (probably 'Gold Capella') and a plain one, Sanseveria, Fatsia, Hedera and Spathiphyllum wallisii:

A variation of the same theme with Fatsia japonica in the middle rather than a giant Spathiphyllum.

Plants for the Conservatory on the other side of the stand (warm one - around 16°C) consists mainly of Calathea sp. and Phoenix roebelenii (from Yunnan):

Another selection for the warm conservatory, Tillandsias, a variegated Ficus, Stephanotis floribunda, Gardenia sp. and different other Calathea:

Plants for the living room includes more different kinds of Ficus, Dieffenbachia 'Tropic Snow', Monstera deliciosa and Chlorophytum comosum:
