Today I worked with Kerry in the Bowles-Lyon Rose Garden again. This time in the red roses section of the garden deadheading the roses there.

| Rosa 'Highgrove' is the tall dark ones at the back. Bred by Peter Beale - it is meant to be a climbing rose. In front are Rosa [Chiltern] 'Kortemma' |

| Bright red ones on the ground are Rosa [Moment in Time] 'Korcastrav'. These were only put in last year. |
More about this garden - It was designed by landscape architect Robert Myers in 2011 who won gold for a show garden in the 2013 Chelsea Flower Show. There are 43 flower beds altogether. There is a colour scheme, it moves from white at the top, to creamy yellow and pinks then to red at the bottom. One side is cool beds and the other side is hot. It is a very wildlife friendly garden and one of my favourite things about this garden is this wonderful corner of wildflowers:
It might not look so much now but not less than any herbaceous perennial patch that's winding down for winter, around May this little section a multitude of wild flowers is out including Achillea millefolium and Eschscholzia california. Brightening what otherwise might be a dull corner of mud as corners have a pinching out effect, and it is hard to get things to grow in them.
In the afternoon, we went around with an inventory of the garden and checked bed by bed if it was still correct, if any had been removed or is dead. If labels were missing, if labels were visible and needed making more conspicuous and picked up some pre-ordered labels.

Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii looking rather stunning with it's label extended (a matter of attaching an extra piece of made to fit & slide into the original one and tied together with cable tie).
