We planted little plants into the Tufa, they were surplus to the collections etc. including Gypsophila aretoides, Sempervivum and Lewisia. The rock is very soft, there were already some holes drilled into it or naturally occurring. We would scrape these out a bit, wet the holes with just a small watering can. Used a tea spoon to put some John Innes 2 mix into a hole and then placed the plant in. Then watered it again. Plants find it hard to survive here, so we have to give them more after care (keeping them watered enough) to help them establish. We put the aforementioned plants vertically into holes, as they like to grow that way, most of these were put on the more shaded sides of the rock.
