For all my sins I am doing my first ever pesticide spraying tomorrow of one of the worse too - glyphosate made by the evil Monsanto. It felt like a necessary evil to practice and do even though I am uncomfortable with it because we will be examined on it, I haven't done any spraying since I did my certificate two years ago and also I need to understand better why I don't like it. I am not totally against chemicals per se and see logic in its use especially in initial ground clearing or where a certain weed like bindweed has taken over another area, but I prefer to not use chemicals and to try to use alternative methods where possible. Anyway we went over the H & S forms, COSHH, understanding what PPE we needed and what we were dealing with. Then we checked product label and calculated how much chemical we needed for the surface we were spraying. Chris gave us an insight into the Chemical store, and it helped give me an understanding of how it was ran (Chris Le Lere, Joe Olds & Petra overlooks it). We also worked out our walking/ spraying speed and prepared everything for tomorrow.
